"Caoineadh Toirdhealbhach Mac Donnachadha"/"Lament for Turlough Mac Donagh"),
songs of farewell ("Slán le Máigh"/Farewell to the Maigue"), and
haunting, almost wordless keens.
What links all the songs is a shimmering
fluidity of melody, unhindered by a rigid tempo or tyrannical harmony,
structured, rather, on the rhythm of the language and the flow of the modal
line.
